Hello 1st grade families,
A quick note to let you know that yesterday was our first day of Mobile Library for all 1st graders! In keeping with extensive Covid safety protocol, a collection of books was set up in the first grade hall. Hybrid students had the opportunity to self-select 2 titles to borrow.
Masks could not hide their joyous expressions as readers left with exciting new books and a new Leo the Lion bookmark! There was literal cheering and clapping :)
For you to know:
The opportunity to choose books is expected to occur monthly, similarly to curbside library for remote learners. This means that curbside book pick-up is no longer occurring for hybrid 1st grade students.
No formal calendar / schedule is set. If I’ve learned anything this year, it is to be responsive and flexible.
Hand sanitation occurs, and no student touches any book until check-out.
Library books can be returned to school ANYTIME – your child’s teacher will facilitate their return to the library.
Library class is still 100% on video. I hope your reader find it both educational and entertaining!
I’m excited to have found a way to connect all hybrid students with books given the time and safety limitations of this year. Please reach out with any questions.
Always your librarian,
Ms Arika
