Fall 2020 Mid-Tri Email Update

Sent to all Sockeye Families on October 14, 2020:

Dear Sockeye Readers,

Four things to note from the Sunset Library:

1. Sockeye Curbside Library

- October recap:

o Over 700 books were circulated!

- November’s book request form: https://forms.gle/aMj7z3WWYisHstss9

- Books will be ready the week of Nov 2…but complete the request early. The form

closes Oct 26!

- Curious how Curbside Library works? Scroll to the bottom for additional details.

2. Returning Library Books

- Monday-Friday, 9:00am-4:00pm (yes! Every day!...at least for now.)

- Bring them to the Sunset entry vestibule

- Place on the blue cart labeled ‘RETURN LIBRARY BOOKS HERE’

- BASC students may give books to a BASC teacher, who will get books to the library

- Remember: old books must be returned by Oct 29 to receive new books

3. Mid-Trimester Update

- Curious about library lessons & learning during the first half of the trimester? Read

4. Fun this Fall: Slightly Spooky Stories

- A treat – a whole week of (slightly spooky) stories is coming Oct 26-30!

o Think: owls in disguise, haircuts for monsters, creepy veggies, etc!

- The link to the read-alouds will be posted on Seesaw/ Clever.

- This is optional and will not take the place of our regular library class.

Thank you for supporting your reader to read, to think, and to grow. If there is some way I can support you or your child, please reach out.

Best regards,

Ms Arika

What is Sockeye Curbside Library:

- A program that allow ALL Sunset students the opportunity to get books from the

school library while at home during remote learning.

How it will work:

- Each month a student completes the online book request survey (date below)

o The survey is interest-based

o There are no holds

o Ms Arika will do her best to fulfill specific requests

- Students may receive up to 3-4 books per month

o Books will be ready during Student Material Pick Up

o To share the wealth, only 1 book per style/series

- Previous month books must be returned prior to picking up new books

- Any books uncollected on pick-up day will be re-shelved

- The process will repeat monthly

Get started now!

1. Complete the Curbside Book Request Form https://forms.gle/aMj7z3WWYisHstss9

a. Form opens today and closes Oct 26

2. Pick up your books the week of Nov 2

a. To be coordinated with Student Materials Pick-Up, meaning fewer trips to

Sunset!

3. Returning books – Monday-Friday, 9a-4p, in the entry vestibule of Sunset

4. Start again!

Know that this program will continue to be flexible and adjust as more information is available.

I am inspired to grow your child as a reader and get amazing books into their hands with this program.
