First unit of the year for grades 4 & 5

Grades 4 & 5 spent the first three weeks of the year researching and discussing Hurricane Florence, which was headed toward the coast of North Carolina as we began school.

We spent two weeks reading Two Bobbies: a story of Hurricane Katrina by Kirby Larson & Mary Netherly. Each week, Ms. Arika modeled online research as students watched the storm path and learned of its destruction.

Week three, students created care notes to send to those impacted. We are still waiting to find a school to send these to.

What a great effort by our Sunset students to Be Kind, Be Safe, Do Your Best, and Help the Rest!
